PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD:
2 & 3 Dimensional Paintings and Drawings
Steve Long, Ann Brantingham and Kendall Johnson
The world has sailed into stormy waters; rapid change, threat and uncertainty create a climate not unlike that faced in the 1950’s. The alienation, angst and dislocation experience then is back along with endless war, nuclear proliferation, economic bubbles, terror and polarization. These works offer prayers toward reclaiming lost serenity.
Beyond All Recognition: Abstract paintings by Kendall Johnson
Things seem have gone from being fouled up to being Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition. Yet chaos unleashes possibility. Kendall’s paintings seek the sublime hiding within the confusion.
In Time of Great Need: 2- and 3- Dimensional abstract paintings by Steve Long
Difficult times invite escape. Steve’s abstract paintings amount to travelogue of a journey taken by the artist to places visited by his mind’s eye. Though the works may seem distant, each draws the viewer toward his or her own journey through places not readily recognize by strangely familiar.
Overlooked, Unseen, and Forgotten: Drawings on paper by Ann Brantingham
Ann's work contemplates the world on a small scale. She draws us into an intimate relationship with normally overseen objects hoping to capture the infinite beauty of the overlooked, unseen, and forgotten. This beauty is around us always but we are often so focused on the tasks of survival that we cannot witness it.
