The dA Center for the Arts and SGV Literary Festival presents an open mic reading featuring The Poets in Distress.
“Shut up and read the poem!” has been the Poets in Distress mantra ever since college students Craig Rick and Brutus Chieftain formed the group in the early 80s after a chance meeting with Allen Ginsburg at a poetry festival in Colorado. Now in their fourth decade, the PID continue to entertain and enrage, powered by some of the finest wordsmiths in Southern California. With their custom-made performance shirts bearing the iconic image of Daddy Cool, the PID continues on its journey to speak truth to power.
