Pomona Heritage In a Minute

January 2021
Looking Back at 2020

Hello! It has been a long time since you have heard from us here at Pomona Heritage. Last spring when everything changed we put all 2020 events on hold so our board members and volunteers could focus on their loved ones. We started meeting again in late summer and now are looking ahead to a more active 2021.
In 2020 we did notice many neighbors used their extra time at home to complete projects. We were able to offer our Old Home Restoration Grant program this year. Our grant coordinator Teresa Spezio is still going over applications and we will present awards soon.

We also used membership dues to make our annual toy donation, this year to the Pomona Police Department toy drive. Dan and Joan McIntire lead the charge on this and we are grateful.

Looking ahead to 2021

We are planning to do more as an organization including holding our usual events online. Work is being done for both an online Home Tour and Old Home Restoration workshop. If you are interested in helping with either we are looking for committee members for these events.

In February we will be having our Board of Directors election, this year electronically. As usual the voting will be for members only, so now is a great time to renew your membership to ensure your voting eligibility. Later in February will be our Annual Meeting. This will be a Zoom event where all are welcome to attend. Keep your eyes on your email for more information for both these events. We are working hard to get 2021 off on the right foot, if you are interested in being a part of this please reach out to us, we would love to hear from you.

A Few Ways You Can Be Involved:

  1. Volunteer! We are always looking for neighbors excited about old home preservation who would like to share their homes or skills with the community. If you are interested please email Megan Gearhart at president@pomonaheritage.org
  2. Renew your membership with Pomona Heritage. With no major fundraiser this past year we drew down reserves to fund programs and cover operating costs. Directions and rates are at the bottom of the newsletter.

Thank you all for staying with us through such an unusual year. We hope we get to see you, our neighbors, face to face soon!

All the best,

Megan Gearhart, Board President
