POMONA, CA – The City of Pomona will be celebrating an important milestone in District 1 with a groundbreaking ceremony for the future Water Resources Department buildings on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. For many years, the Department has been planning to replace its administrative buildings, as the existing buildings are a compilation of repurposed buildings dating back as far as the late 1800s. This current site has been part of the City's history and reveal its unique character. At one time, this site was used by the Southern California Gas Company to produce natural gas. Once the buildings are completed they will again become another important resource that serves the community. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the future site of the Water Resources Department building.

About the Water Resources Building:
This will become the home for the City of Pomona Water Resources Department and the Pomona Stable Building which will be available to support the City's future endeavors. Residents and customers will be welcomed in the new building to learn about the unique history of the Stable building and the City's water infrastructure. The site is part of the greening initiative for the City to develop sustainable development goals.
Along with the buildings, street and sidewalk improvements will be constructed to support our vibrant and thriving community. Electric vehicles charging stations will be available on site in keeping with the California’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals.
