Ren's Wayback, Gomer Jones ?
Well I'm not sure if there was a Gomer Jones Car Dealership here in Pomona, so maybe someone out there might know. But I was told about this so I went over to check it myself, and this is what the sign says.

But as you can see it was used for another sign, sometimes they will take an old sign and reverse them and use the backside for a new sign. Through my travels in out of Pomona, I see a few of these where they reverse them and use them again. So if anyone know anything about Gomer Jones let us know, but in the mean time I'll see what I can find.

NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY
The “sandwich” is believed to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, following the claim that he was the eponymous inventor of the sandwich. Today, National Sandwich Day, honors one of America’s most popular lunch items and is celebrated each year on November 3.

The story is told of John Montagu being an avid gambler and telling his servants to put meat between two slices of bread so he could eat with one hand during a 24 hour gambling game.

The modern sandwich is believed to be named after John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich (later known as Lord Sandwich) however, the exact circumstances of its invention and original use are the subject of debate. There is a rumor in a contemporary travel book titled Tour to London by Pierre Jean Grosley formed the popular myth that bread and meat sustained Lord Sandwich at the gambling table. It is said that Lord Sandwich was a very conversant gambler and did not take the time to have a meal during his long hours playing at the card table. When hungry, he would ask his servants to bring him slices of meat between two slices of bread. This practice of Lord Sandwich was a habit which was well known to his gambling friends whom soon began to order “the same as Sandwich” and from this, the sandwich was born.

N.A.M. Rodger, who wrote Sandwich’s biography, suggests that it was Sandwich’s commitments to the navy, politics and the arts, that mean the first sandwich was more likely to have been consumed at his work desk.

Before being known as sandwiches, the food seems to simply have been known as “bread and meat” or “bread and cheese”.

NATIONAL HOUSEWIFE’S DAY
Each year on November 3, millions of people across the country celebrate National Housewife’s Day. This day was created to make the day a special one for the “stay at home” mom, as their job taking care of the children and the home is a 24/7 one, that sometimes does not get the “thank you” that is much deserved.

The term “housewife” is an old term stemming from the days when most families were supported from one income. The father worked and the mother stayed home to take care of the house and the children. Times have changed and it is not always possible for one parent to stay at home, even though it is still preferred by many. In today’s society, typically two incomes are needed to support a household. If a mother is able to stay at home, the term “stay at home mom” or “domestic engineer” are favored over the term “housewife”.

Parents of Killed Motorcyclist Are Suing Santa Monica
The parents of a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a city of Santa Monica bus sued the municipality today, alleging wrongful death and negligence.
Donald and Martha O'Dell, father and mother of the late Patrick O'Dell of Van Nuys, are seeking unspecified damages.
A representative of the Santa Monica City Attorney's Office did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the Los Angeles Superior Court complaint, which also names the bus driver, Timothy Datryn Thrash.
The 25-year-old O'Dell, an aspiring actor who worked as a server at Gladstones restaurant, was riding his motorcycle near Sunset Boulevard and Marquez Avenue in Pacific Palisades about 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 20, 2012, when he collided with a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus.
"The bus was moving in a generally western direction crossing the southbound lanes of Sunset Boulevard and the solid double yellow line separating north/south traffic on Sunset Boulevard,'' according to the lawsuit.
The suit alleges that another factor in the accident was the "confusing, dangerous and defective condition'' of the roadway, "including the pavement, signage, traffic controls, turn lanes, sight distances, lane striping, bus routes, light timing and advisory sign content and location.''
The suit calls the location a "trap'' as defined by the state Government Code.

Ontario Fury Playing Free Game in Upland
The Ontario Fury, the Inland Empire's newest professional sports team, will be playing an intrasquad indoor soccer game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Upland Sports Arena, the official training facility of the Ontario Fury.
The game, which will feature members of the Fury split into a Red Team and a Black Team, will be open to the public free of charge.
“With the rest of the league opening up the season this weekend, we felt we needed to keep our skills fresh for our opener Nov. 10,” said Bernie Lilavois, the team’s president and coach. “And we wanted to reward our fans who came out in force for our preseason game with a chance to see the action up close and personal.”
Besides the game, there will be food and drink specials at the Upland Sports Arena’s sports bar, as well as raffles, giveaways. autograph opportunities and Fury merchandise for sale. Information will also be available for those wanting to buy season and group ticket packages at rates below the box office price.
The Upland Sports Arena is located at 1721 W. 11th St., in Upland, between Benson and Central avenues. Parking and admission for the game is free. For information, contact the Fury offices at 909-240-5242.

Walnut Valley Kids' Character Shines During Red Ribbon Week
The following news release is courtesy of the Walnut Valley Unified School District.
Collegewood Elementary School held Red Ribbon Week activities from October 28-November 1.
This year’s theme was “My Character Shines-I’m Drug Free!” Each day, students participated in activities including signing a school-wide “I’m bugged by drugs” poster, wearing sunglasses on “My Character Shines-I’m Drug Free day; wearing sports themed clothing on “Stay in the Game-Play Drug Free” and parading in their Halloween costumes on October 31 to “Just Say Boo to Drugs!”
Students were also encouraged to enter a school-wide poster contest. The colorful and creative entries were on display in the Multi-Purpose Room during Red Ribbon Week.
One winner was selected from each grade level. Congratulations to the following winners: Kindergarten – Annika Peterson,1st Grade – Adriana Kuniyoshi, 2nd Grade – Vito (Victor) Lee, 3rd Grade – Tabetha Mora, 4th Grade – Kawin Watkins and 5th Grade – Kevin Yuen.
Maple Hill Elementary in Diamond Bar hosted a “Sports Jam” themed Red Ribbon Week that also emphasized the importance of being healthy and staying drug free.
Students participated in fun activities each day during lunch recess including a “Boogie Drug Free” dance party, wearing their sports themed clothing on “Score in life, be drug free”, “Step it up, be drug free!” run/walkathon and “Jammin Jump Rope” on November 1.
