Officers Seize Narcotics During A Traffic Stop

- 11351 H&S – Possession of Heroin for Sales
- 11352 (a) H&S – Transportation of Heroin
- 30305 (A)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition
- 186.22 PC (B)(1) – Gang Enhancement
SUSPECT: Mateo, David - 30 year old, Riverside resident
NARRATIVE:
On Thursday, July 16, 2020; Officers from Pomona Police Department's, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) initiated a traffic stop in the area of 1500 E. Mission Blvd. after observing a window tint violation. As they approached the car, Officers witnessed the driver who was identified as, David Mateo handing the front right passenger clear bags containing narcotics. The Officers had immediately recognized Mateo from previous contacts. He is a documented gang member and a felon who’s been previously convicted on murder charges. Officers detained the occupants of the car and recovered a large quantity of methamphetamines and heroin. Officers knew Mateo to be associated with an illegal gambling casino in the area. Officers authored and served a search warrant at 1246 E. Mission Blvd. where the casino was located. They recovered additional narcotics, approximately 15,000 in US currency, gun ammunition and firearms magazines. Mateo was arrested without incident and booked at the Pomona city jail in reference to the listed charges.
UNIT:
The Pomona Police Department’s, Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) is a specialized unit within the police department that is responsible for suppressing gang violence, investigating drug offenses and pursuing wanted persons. The team is comprised of two supervisors, five officers and two additional officers from the California Highway Patrol – Baldwin Park Office.
