Monday's Memorial Day ceremonies




CHINO - Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. at Chino Community Center. 5443 B St. Chino. Chino American Legion Post 299 Auxiliary members will be laying a wreath for each major war. CLAREMONT - Memorial Day services will be held by the city and American Legion Post 78 in Oak Park Cemetery, 410 Sycamore Ave., at 11 a.m. The service will include comments from members of American Legion Post 78, Mayor Opanyi Nasiali, and various community members. MONTCLAIR - Memorial Day Program will be at 6 p.m. at Memorial Garden, 5111 Benito St., adjacent to City Hall. The city will dedicate eight new plaques to the Veteran's Memorial Wall during the ceremony.
ONTARIO - The Ontario Cemetery Association will host a Memorial Day event at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W. G St., Ontario. A memorial Mass will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the park's mausoleum, followed by the main program at 10 a.m. in the park's memorial veteran section. The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band, local community veterans and American Legion Post 112, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 112, and Women's Auxiliary Unit 112 will also be at the event. POMONA - Memorial Day services will be held for the 127th year at the Pomona Valley Memorial Park, 502 E. Franklin Ave., Pomona. The Pomona Concert Orchestra with the Lindsay Sisters will perform. There will be a P-51 Mustang flyover, guest speakers, a color guard from American Legion Post 30, and participation by the Fraternal Order of Elks No. 2215, Pomona Masons, and others. There will be refreshments at American Legion Post 30 after the ceremony.
 
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Freedom Courtyard, Central Park, 11200 Base Line Road, A pre-ceremony reception will be held by CareMore at 11 a.m. with a presentation of colors by Navy Sea Cadets and a wreath-laying at Freedom Courtyard. A 21-gun salute will be presented by VFW Post 8680. "Taps" will be played and a bagpipe group will perform "Amazing Grace." Flags will be raised to half staff at noon.
 
SAN DIMAS - Memorial Day ceremonies at Veterans Hall on the southeast corner of Bonita and Wheeler avenues. The second and final phase of the La Verne Veterans Memorial will be dedicated during the 11 a.m. ceremony. Former councilman Dan Harden will serve as master of ceremonies. Andrew McKindley, La Verne Police Department's school resource officer at Bonita High and Ramona Middle schools and an Army National Guard Reserve sergeant, will be keynote speaker.
