Planning for the 4th of July? La Verne's Got You Covered


For those of you already looking forward to Independence Day, the city of La Verne has put out its schedule of events.

The day is stacked with family activities. So if you want to start planning now, here’s what you have to look forward too.

6:30 - 11 a.m. Pancake Breakfast Hosted by Boy Scout Troop 411. Come support the Scouts in the Methodist Church parking lot on D Street across from Bonita High School. Presale tickets will be available at the Farmers Market on June 27th.
          

9:40 a.m. Pre-parade “La Verne 4th of July Patriotic Motorcycle Salute” 
Two-hundred shiny motorcycles ride through the parade route carrying flags representing the United States, all 50 states, historical flags, and flags representing all branches of the military. To register, please contact Diane Davis at thumperseviltwin@aol.com or (909) 969-1576.

10 a.m. Parade This is a traditional hometown parade on a 2.25 mile route through La Verne’s Oldtown. The Community Grand Marshals of the 2013 parade are Elias Castro Jefferson Hill, and Joe Martinez, representing the Veterans Memorial Committee. 11 a.m. Country Fair at Roynon Elementary School
Entertainment, rides for all ages, crafts, food, contests, and much more! Hours of operation:

11 a.m. Watermelon
Free Watermelon hosted by La Verne Rotary   Located at the Country Fair at Roynon School

Noon Swimming
FREE Swim at the Aquatics Center until 4 p.m.

5 p.m. Deep Pit BBQ
This event is in its 49th year hosted by the Methodist Church. The meal includes BBQ beef or turkey, coleslaw, corn, and a roll. Children’s’ meals and take out service are also available.

6 p.m. Fireworks Show
The ticket booth for the show opens at 5 p.m. Gates open at 6. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. The Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

Fireworks Purchase pre-sale tickets for a $1 discount at City Hall, 3660 D Street, La Verne, and the Chamber of Commerce, 2078 Bonita Ave., La Verne.
