San Gabriel Valley Residents May See Smoke

A brush fire, named the Powerhouse Fire, is burning in the Angeles National Forest between Santa Clarita and the Antelope Valley.

It is estimated at more than 3600 acres with 15 percent containment as of 8 a.m.

At this time the smoke plume is moving aloft toward the south and southwest, over portions of the Angeles National Forest and portions of the Santa Clarita Valley Area.

Areas directly impacted by smoke may experience air quality in the Unhealthy range, or higher.

Depending on fire and weather conditions, the portions of the South Coast Air Basin where smoke impacts are most likely to occur include portions of the San Gabriel Mountains Area (Forecast Area 15).
