Suspect Killed in Deputy-Involved Shooting in La Puente

A deputy shot and killed a suspect after the man fled his vehicle and reached for a handgun during a traffic stop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
A city of Industry Sheriff's Department deputy fired on the suspect at 9:47 a.m. Saturday when he fled his vehicle after being stopped in the vicinity of Loukelton Street and North Ballista Avenue and repeatedly reached for a silver handgun tucked into his waistband, according to Sgt. Harry Drucker.
The suspect had been stopped for running a stop sign.
He was hit in the upper torso and transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Drucker said.
No deputies were injured and the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau investigation is continuing.
