Traffic Safety Classes for Bicyclists Kick Off Saturday in Claremont

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, commonly known as Metro, is hosting the free bicycle traffic safety workshops, with plans to do several of the events across the country in the next few months, according to the city of Claremont's website.
Metro secured funding from the Office of Traffic Safety for the events and is working with the LA County Bicycle Coalition, Bike San Gabriel Valley, and Multi-Cultural Communities for Mobility to lead the workshops.

The organizers plan to offer a three-hour beginner's road rules class in both English and Spanish, as well as an eight-hour workshop for intermediate-level cyclists on building traffic skills.

The start of the series is Saturday with a training session from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alexander Hughes Community Center, 1700 Danbury Road.
