Driver Slams Into Patrol Car in La Puente

 

A driver who suffered injuries when his vehicle slammed into a sheriff's cruiser in La Puente was in custody Friday on suspicion of DUI.

The driver of the Honda Civic, Salvador Sanchez, 28, of La Puente, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Investigators determined that the suspect was DUI with alcohol and he was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury; he remained in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The crash was reported about 3 a.m. on Hacienda Boulevard, at Ector Street, officials said.

Sanchez was traveling north on Hacienda when he tried to make a left turn onto Ector and broadsided the southbound patrol car, Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Bob Boese reported.
