Three Culver City Restaurants Named Best in Los Angeles

The Culver City eateries made Jonathan Gold's Los Angeles Times 100 best Los Angeles Restaurants list.

Three Culver City restaurants on Thursday made Los Angeles Times food critic Jonathan Gold's list of the 100 best restaurants in Los Angeles.

Kogi – the Korean Barbeque truck owned by Chef Roy of the A-Frame in Culver City – nearly topped this list, coming in as the fifth-best restaurant in Los Angeles.

"I don't care if you were born here: You're not an Angeleno if you haven't headed to a deserted parking lot late at night, pulled a cold drink out of a paper bag on the floor of your ride and waited for the appearance of the Kogi truck," Gold wrote.

Also finishing in the top 100 were Culver City's Southeast Asian-inspired Lukshon restaurant (started by Father's Office chef Sang Yoon) at number 34 and the Indian restaurant Mayura at number 84.

Gold called Chef Yoon "part of a great new wave in American cooking" and praised Mayura for specializing in a cooking dishes endemic to India's Spice Coast.
