Angeles Crest Ultra-Marathon Runners to Do 100-Mile Run Across Mountain Range
The group will be running all day Saturday and into the night from Wrightwood to Altadena through the Upper Winter Creek Trail and various parts of the range accessible from the Angeles Crest Highway.
There are not many races that can put an average marathon runner to shame, but this weekend's ultra-marathon through the San Gabriel Mountains will require runners to run 100.5 miles over 21,000' of climbing.
The race starts early Saturday morning in Wrightwood, with runners expected to start arriving at the end of the race in Altadena late Saturday night through Sunday morning, according to a post on the Altadena Patch site, which invites the public to come greet the tired runners.
If you want to simply head up the Angeles Crest Highway from the Crescenta Valley to try to spot the athletes, the attached race guide has information on the route they will be running. The runners will also be passing through the Upper Winter Creek trail for those in the Sierra Madre area.
More about the race can be found on the event website or in the attached guide.
