LAPD Arrests Carjacking Suspects in Hollywood
Two men are arrested by LAPD officers in Hollywood in connection with a carjacking in Canyon Country.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station arrested two people in connection with a carjacking just 90 minutes after the crime occurred, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The arrest took place somewhere in Hollywood, according to an LASD watch commander. A third man eluded capture.
The two men are accused of assaulting a 56-year-old Canyon Country resident after he refused to give them the keys to his car shortly after parking his vehicle in the 17600 block of Jakes Way in Canyon Country, according to the news release from Lt. Randy Harris.
"During the assault, the victim was able to throw his keys away from him," Harris said. "The males ceased their assault, took the victim's keys, and stole his 2009 Lincoln MKX."
About and hour and a half after the incident, the LAPD officers spotted the victim's vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, Harris said.
"The vehicle initially failed to yield but stopped a short distance later," Harris said. "Several males fled from the vehicle. Two of the three suspects were apprehended a short time later."
The two men, whose names are unknown, were transferred to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
