Police respond to a suspicious package at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center
At 1700 hours, police were sent to Pomona Valley Hospital regarding a suspicious box found outside an employee entrance. Prior to police arrival, a PVCH security K9 alerted on the box which heightened suspicion that it may contain harmful material. The area was cordoned off and all persons in the building near where the box was located were moved to other safe areas within the hospital.
At 1930 hours, the LASD Explosives Unit arrived and were able to render the box safe. Based upon their investigation, it does not appear that anything harmful was contained within the package. At 2015 hours, the affected portion of the hospital was re-opened to normal operations.
This incident did not affect normal emergency operations of the hospital nor did it cause any patients to be evacuated from the facility.
