Alleged Prowlers in Chino Hills Linked to Series

A pair of alleged prowlers arrested in Chino Hills this week were found to be in possession of property stolen in a series of burglaries in that city and in surrounding communities, officials said Friday.

Los Angeles sheriff's deputies about 11 p.m. Wednesday were called to investigate a report that suspects were on a roof of an apartment complex, officials said.
Arriving deputies chased the suspects into the complex, catching and detaining them, officials said.

Investigators checking the suspects' cell phones found text messages that led cops to believe the men had been casing an apartment and waiting for the residents to leave in order to burglarize it, officials said.

Deputies served a search warrant at the home of a suspect and found property allegedly taken in a number of burglaries that occurred in Chino Hills, as well as in surrounding communities.

The men were booked on suspicion of prowling and receiving stolen property, officials said.
