433 New Trees Planted in Arcadia to Replace Those Lost in Windstorm
Grant funding paid for the replacement of trees knocked down in the windstorm that swept through the San Gabriel Valley in 2011.
The company hired to replace the trees lost in the 2011 windstorm has planted 433 new trees in Arcadia since last November, according to city records.
The city paid CLS Landscape Management about $195,000 to replace the trees knocked down by the windstorm that struck the San Gabriel Valley in December 2011, according to a city council agenda report.
Most of the project was paid for with $186,000 in county grant funding awarded to the city last year. The remainder of the cost was covered by money from the city's emergency fund.
CLS planted 241 new trees in public areas of residential neighborhoods and 192 trees in public areas of commercial areas, multifamily neighborhoods and city parks, the report states.
